Hipster.com, the photosharing app to shutdown on Feb 16th - Magzium
shravya | On 07, Feb 2013
Hipster.com a photosharing app that was acquired by AOL in March,2012 is all gearing up to shutdown its services. Mails are being sent to all its registered users telling them that they should save any postcards (Hipster’s term for posted images) by that date, or they will be deleted, along with all other user data.
Though Hipster has picked up around 5,00,000 users its decision to close it down comes due to quite a few reasons. Most important being
- The dominance of other photosharing apps
- Financial considerations
- Growth of the site
AOL is trying to relocate its key talent from Hipster to its other projects while the founder Doug Ludlow started his new venture the Little Book Club for children’s books.
