Apple Inc is granted Trademark for its store design - Magzium

The latest in Apples list of Trademark achievements is its trade dress. Apple Inc the most aggressive patent protecting technological company is now all set to protect the interior design of its stores. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has finally granted Apple its request last week after declining it twice since 2010.

Apples trademarks on the minimalist design and layout of its retail outlets covers its clear glass storefront and its rectangular tables along with its patented floating glass staircase of which Steve Jobs is himself is an inventor according to the Patent and Trademark Office. The big question now with Apples competitors is how close can they get without infringing.

As of now the trademark rights do not extend outside the United States, but Apple might seek similar safeguards in other countries where it operates.
